I was just "assumption" diagnosed with Graves disease. I am on 100mg of Toprol...and was on 40mg of Methimazole. Still have symptoms, so my meds were upped to 60mg of Methimazole. I am still breastfeeding, my 6 month old baby, that is on some solid foods. I am getting pressured to stop breastfeeding. I need to know if it is safe to continue. The endocrinologist says it's fine..but any info you look up says it's not unless it is less than 20mg. Please help!!

I need help! So happy I found your site. Two weeks ago I was assumption diagnosed with Graves disease. I am on 100mg of Toprol...and was on 40mg of Methimazole. I was still losing weight...now my dose of Methimazole has been upped to 60mg. I have a 6 month old that I am still breastfeeding...is this still safe? He is on some solid foods. The endocrinologist said it's ok. But all info you look up says it's not...or if it's 20 mg and under. Please help! I am getting pressured to stop now...should I??
